We use [IBM Analytics] to provision, manage, run and retire Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark clusters. With its calculation engine, this enterprise performance management solution helps the users move beyond the limits of spreadsheets, automating the planning process to drive faster, more accurate results. We use it to unify data sources into one single repository, because it enables users to build sophisticated, multidimensional models that drive forecasts. So far we haven't had any problems with the software.
  • Jobs with Spark, Hadoop, or Hive queries are rapidly attained
  • Can collect, organize and analyze your data accurately
  • You can customize, for example, Spark or Hadoop configuration settings, or Python, R, Scala, or Java libraries.
  • I find most of the functions user friendly and most importantly best fits in multi business setup and users easily adapt to the system. Also, you get a lot done in a very short period of time.
We are at present utilizing IBM Analytics Engine and it works incredible. Following are the things that I like the most about this product is:-

- Simple to Utilize

- Reasonable Cost

- With only a couple seconds you can ready to fabricate and convey groups

- you can without much of a stretch break down information through different applications
  • Simple to Utilize
  • Analyzes data with accuracy
  • Collects data rapidly
  • Manages data very well with no errors
  • In the time of huge information investigation, it's insufficient to simply endure – organizations need to rival and separate themselves from the rest. The individuals who can saddle information will be the best and improve their return for money invested from huge information examination. It's critical to look past the stages and rather center around the right-time admittance to information. At the point when utilized effectively, groups from lines of business to the C-suite will flourish by utilizing experiences inferred to better their center activities.
We have tried the following solutions in the past and I must say they can't compare to IBM Analytics Engine:

Microsoft SQL
Snowflake
Qubole
Hadoop HDFS
Amazon EMR

Most of the process and capabilities that are found in IBM Analytics [Engine] are pretty much a combination of what you can find when you use the above as a combination and not standalone
Google BigQuery, Amazon EMR (Elastic MapReduce), Snowflake

We have recently started utilizing IBM Analytics & so far it has been a good experience. Our Data Intelligence team along with the DevOps team makes use of this tool as they deal with an enormous amount of data on a daily basis. The majority use it analyze the overall performance of all the applications related to Hadoop by gauging the datasets & check for any inconsistency in their behavior.
  • Easy-to-use User interface with featured pack functionalities.
  • Scalable & customizable according to user needs.
  • Powerful yet simple cluster administration.
  • Affordable Pricing.
  • Could improve upon step-by-step instructions & make it more comprehensive.
  • Can be more prompt with their customer service.
  • Could come up with an e learning module for using the tool.
IBM Analytics is more suited to an environment where there is big data or a large volume of data coming in from different sources. For those who are already on IBM Cloud Engine, they can leverage the maximum out of IBM Analytics Engine. Systems with Hadoop & Spark applications should go with this tool.
  • Saved considerable amount of time dealing with clustering & its administration.
  • Seamless & faster processing time helped us increasing ROI in return.
  • Decreases the need of relying on multiple tools for data analytics.
Our data analytics team happened to try IBM Analytics just to get acquainted with it & it turned out that this tool fits our business requirement better than the one which we were using in terms of the features along with the level of support that they provide. so, choosing the tools was a no brainer given IBM's stellar reputation.

As far as I know, we are the only department in our rather large organization that is currently using the IBM Analytics Engine. We needed a relatively low-cost solution to perform analysis without a huge amount of maintenance or upkeep required. It also allowed us to perform tasks we did not foresee, such as analyze data across multiple applications.
  • Ease of use / user interface
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Ability to build and deploy clusters very quickly... within minutes
  • I would like to see a more robust version of their online help
  • The speed of their business support is adequate, but I kind of expect more from such a powerhouse.
  • Problems with duration of cluster life
The IBM Analytics Engine is particularly well-suited for situations in which you are required to analyze data from a myriad of sources. The drill-down capabilities make this a very powerful tool, but the implementation of large-scale projects requires watching the tutorials first, in our opinion. It is nice that they offer a free trial version so that you can test limited features first.
  • The cost to implement was definitely a plus when it came to choosing the IBM Analytics Engine.
  • While sufficient, the overall support received from IBM was less than that for which we had planned.
  • We were able to separate storage and computing while paving the way for easier cluster administration.
We initially wanted to go with Google BigQuery, mainly for the name recognition. However, the pricing and support structure led us to seek alternatives, which pointed us to IBM. Apache Spark was also in the running, but here IBM's domination in the industry made the choice a no-brainer. As previously stated, the support received was not quite what we expected, but was adequate.

IBM Analytics Engine is being used by my organization to analyze our data across multiple applications. We use it primarily to gather data to be used to analyze application performance and reliability. This data allows us to ensure that we are delivering the best possible application performance to our customers and business partners across all channels.
  • We are able to build and deploy clusters within minutes to simplify user experience and increase scalability and reliability.
  • We are able to scale and compute on-demand to handle newer workloads like machine learning.
  • We really like that we are able to access and administer the application via multiple interfaces.
  • Some of the documentation can be overwhelming and very technical. We would love to have some documentation written for non-technical people.
  • We would like to see better communication from IBM regarding upgrades and patching cycles of the product.
  • The learning curve for this product is steep. This is definitely not a product that will be used right out of the box.
I think the IBM Analytics Engine is well suited for large corporations looking to increase their analytics game. This is truly an Enterprise product that can capture data across multiple workflows to help a business grab a hold of what's going on with their data. I don't feel that the IBM Analytics Engine is well-suited for smaller companies. The complexity is just to large to roll-out to a company that might not need all the power of this product.
  • This product has allowed us to gather analytics data across multiple platforms so we can view and analyze the data from different workflows, all in one place.
  • IBM Analytics has allowed us to scale on demand which allows us to capture more and more data, thus increasing our ROI.
  • The convenience of the ability to access and administer the product via multiple interfaces has allowed our administrators to ensure that the application is making a positive ROI for our business users and partners.
We did an evaluation of Google Analytics and Microsoft Azure Stream Analytics in comparison to the IBM Analytics Engine product. We choose the product offering from IBM because we felt that for our company, this product offered a more complete and comprehensive package to satisfy our data analytics needs. We also appreciated that this product is coming from IBM, and we have a long-standing partnership with them and they have provided us with many valuable products and services over the years.

It was used by my department only. It helped to analyze our program outcome throughout the 6 months that I was working with that program. It was really helpful, and shortened our analysis procedure by a lot. Moreover, it saved the company a lot of labor and time.
  • easy use of interface
  • clear instructions of where everything is
  • the two week use of nodes
  • some feature updates without clear instructions
  • better online help
It is pretty good for my work, but it might not be useful for all programmers, even in my company. Also users needs to understand it pretty well before using it. Instructions for how to use it is probably helpful for users who have never used it or heard about it.
  • it saved a lot of money on hiring more labor
  • it saved a lot of time on analyzing all the data
